About Eric L'Italien, PT, DPT, CSCS
Eric L’Italien, PT, DPT, CSCS is a physical therapist and strength coach based in South Shore, MA, and the founder of Motionmind, a mobile and virtual practice that bridges the gap between rehab and performance. Eric created Motionmind to make high-quality, evidence-based care accessible in people’s homes and online, so they can move from pain and limitation to confident, resilient movement on their own terms.
Over more than a decade in practice, Eric has treated a wide range of orthopedic, neurologic, and sports medicine conditions in both inpatient and outpatient settings. He has a particular interest in spine-related pain and in helping active adults and “everyday athletes” return to lifting, sport, and meaningful daily activities without fear. His approach blends thorough assessment, clear education, and progressive loading so clients understand not just what to do, but why they’re doing it.
Before starting Motionmind, Eric served as a Physical Therapy Clinical Specialist at Spaulding Rehabilitation, where he led the network’s Weightlifting Special Interest Group and helped integrate blood flow restriction training into clinical practice. He has been a go-to resource on strength and conditioning within a major sports medicine network and has contributed as a content expert to national publications discussing topics like strength training, core stability, home exercise, and heart-healthy fitness.
Eric is also deeply involved in education. He teaches graduate-level anatomy, mentors Doctor of Physical Therapy students, and designs interactive learning tools to improve clinical reasoning and decision-making. That same passion for teaching shows up in his patient care: sessions are collaborative, focused on problem-solving together, and aimed at leaving each person more informed and more independent over time.
As a lifelong mover, coach, and parent, Eric understands the real-world demands his clients face—whether that’s getting through a workday without pain, picking up kids, or training seriously in the gym or on the field. At Motionmind, he combines mobile and virtual physical therapy, personal training, and structured exercise programming to guide people from injury and uncertainty to sustainable strength, confidence, and performance.
